German Wespe self-propelled howitzers from the 2nd Battalion of the “Grossdeutschland” Artillery Regiment of the Wehrmacht are moving towards the front line along a country road. Operation Citadel (Battle of Kursk), Eastern Front, World War II in Europe.

Wespe (German: “wasp”) is a light-weight German self-propelled artillery mount (SPG) of the class of self-propelled howitzers from the Second World War (Leichte Feldhaubitze 18/2 auf Fahrgestell Panzerkampfwagen II (Sf.). According to the departmental rubricator of the Ministry of Arms of Greater Germany, it was designated as Sd. Kfz. 124.
