The Battle of the Atlantic: The German crew of the U-175 submarine in the water after its sinking as a result of depth charges and artillery fire from the US SPS (USCGC Spencer) and Duane (USCGC Duane) ships.
As a result of the rescue operation, 41 sailors of the German crew were raised from the water.
The picture was taken with USCGC Spencer, in the background from the left – USCGC Duane.
USCGC Spencer brought 19 people on board, USCGC Duane – 22.
