Lieutenant-General V. Zhdanov

 

Speech by the commander of the 4th Guards Mechanized Corps, Lieutenant-General Vladimir Ivanovich Zhdanov at a rally in honor of the liberation of Belgrade.
Next to the Soviet General V. Zhdanov on the podium are officers and soldiers of the People’s Liberation Army of Yugoslavia (NOAJ).

During the Belgrade operation, in October 1944, the tank crews of the 4th Guards Mechanized Corps under the command of General V. Zhdanov fought alongside soldiers from the Yugoslav People’s Liberation Army.

On September 13, 1944, Guardian Major-General of Tank Forces V. Zhdanov was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union. On the same day he was awarded the next military rank: Lieutenant-General of Tank Forces. October 20, 1944 for services in the fight against common enemies, contribution to the liberation of Belgrade and other areas of Yugoslavia V.I. Zhdanov was awarded the title of People’s Hero of Yugoslavia with the award of the Order of the People’s Hero.
