Mikhail Fomich Zolotar (right), born in 1910, sniper of the 2nd Rifle Battalion of the 439th Rifle Regiment of the 52nd Rifle Shumensky-Vienna Rifle Division of the Red Army.

Mikhail Zolotar began to fight on June 22, 1941 on the South-Western Front. From October 09, 1941 to September 20, 1944, he was in German captivity.
Immediately after his release, Mikhail Zolotar was recruited into the ranks of the Red Army. As part of the 439th Infantry Regiment, he reached Prague.
Mikhail Zolotar distinguished himself in battles on the territory of Hungary (awarded the medal “For Courage”) and during the liberation of Brno in Czechoslovakia (awarded the Order of Glory, 3rd degree).
From the award list: “Sergeant Mikhail Zolotar on January 28, 1945 in the area of ​​the village of Gant (Hungary), while in combat escort, pursuing the attacking enemy groups with his rifle, exterminated 7 Nazis”.
