Pyotr Stefanovsky

 

The commander of the 402nd Fighter Aviation Regiment of the Red Army, Colonel Pyotr Stefanovsky (January 2, 1903 – February 23, 1976) watches the flights in sunglasses.

Before the start of the Great Patriotic War of the Soviet Union, Pyotr Stefanovsky worked as an instructor pilot, then as a test pilot at the Air Force Research Institute.
As part of the 402nd Fighter Aviation Regiment under the command of Peter Stefanovsky, test pilots from the Air Force Research Institute fought.
In May 1942, Pyotr Stefanovsky was recalled from the front and continued flight tests of the latest Soviet fighters and bombers. During the flight test work at the Air Force Research Institute, Petr Stefanovsky had to test more than fifty types of aircraft. He was engaged in testing such fighters as the Yak-1, Yak-7b, Yak-9, Yak-3 and La-5.
