Pavel Goldberg

 

Pavel Goldberg, commander of a platoon of machine gunners of the 241st Rifle Regiment of the 95th Rifle Division, the sergeant of the Red Army in one of the workshops of the destroyed Barrikady plant.

The war found Pavel Goldberg in the city of Vladivostok, where he served in the ranks of the Pacific Navy of Soviet Russia. In the autumn of 1942, among 1800 Pacific sailors, he was sent to Stalingrad. On November 15, 1942 he was seriously wounded. Later he participated in the battles on the Kursk Bulge, crossing the Dnieper, liberating the Carpathians and Poland from the Nazis.
Pavel Goldberg finished the World War II with the rank of senior lieutenant, was awarded the Orders of the Red Banner, Red Star, Patriotic War 2nd degree and the medal For the Defense of Stalingrad. During the war years he was shell-shocked once, wounded four times (three times seriously).
