Opening of a German store

A German store in Nazi-occupied Kiev is being converted to sell goods from the Third Reich. Signboard “Der Deutsche Laden” – “The German store“.

This is the fourth photo of a German girl from the Nazi propaganda report “A Young Girl Came to Kiev” (“Ein junges Mädchen kommt nach Kiew”), published in the Berlin newspaper “Berliner Illustrierte Zeitung” on October 22, 1942. The heroine of the report is a 19-year-old German girl Inge , who came to Kiev to work in a German company (apparently, Inge is a Volksdeutsche). Eight photographs of the reportage show Inge’s day in Kiev: The arrival, accommodation in a hotel, shopping, a visit to the beach, lunch at a restaurant and cafe, and also the first exit to work.
