MiG 9

Soviet pilots from the 260th Mixed Aircraft Division of the Red Army Air Force are going on the parking lot of the airfield near the MiG 9 fighter (I-210). Eastern Front, Second World War.
MiG 9 is a modification of the MiG-3 fighter with the M-82A engine.
The MiG 9 fighter did not begin to be produced in series, since according to the results of the tests in 1942-1943 he received an unsatisfactory assessment. Its main flight characteristics turned out to be worse than that of the La-5 and Yak-7 aircraft.
However, on June 27, 1943, three fighters of the military series No. 6501, No. 6502 and No. 6503, after factory revision, were transferred to the 260th mixed aircraft division of the 7th Air Army of the Karelian Front, where they were operated until wearing in 1944.
