Kuban-Brückenkopf (auch Gotenkopf) is a line of German army fortifications on the Taman peninsula. Availability 400,000th military groups and shortened front line allowed the German army to create here a very tight defense. The fighting here lasted from February to September 1943, while the last German army were evacuated to the Crimea.
For the liberation of the Taman Peninsula the 2 Guards Infantry Division of the Red Army on the 9 October 1943 received the honorary title of “Taman”.
