German soldiers operate a captured T-34 Soviet medium tank during Operation Barbarossa in the temporarily occupied territory of Soviet Russia. Eastern Front, World War II.
The captured T-34 is prepared for shipment to Nazi Germany for testing. On the frontal armor plate there is an inscription in German: “O.K.H.Wa. Prvf. 6″ (military acceptance 6). O.K.H. – most likely (Oberkommando des Heeres) – the High Command of the Ground Forces (Wehrmacht). 0405-7 is the serial number of the medium tank. Keine Teile ausbauen – formulated as a prescription: “Do not remove parts of a combat vehicle.”
The photo shows the captured T-34 tank armed with an L-11 cannon, a variant with a welded turret.
