World War 2 photo: German female operator from the Luftwaffe from the acoustic direction finder RRH or the German Ringtrichterrichtungshoerer used in the Nazi Air Defense of the Third Reich.
The German Ringtrichterrichtungshoerer acoustic direction finder was used to initial searchlights on the target at night.
The Ringtrichterrichtungshoerer acoustic direction finder was serviced by three operators – the bearing determiner on the left seat, the height adjuster on the right seat and the operator-calculator in the middle. RRH could detect targets at a distance of 5 to 12 km, depending on the weather conditions, the capabilities of the operators and the size of the target, with an error of direction finding of about 2 degrees.
