The workers of the Stalingrad Tractor Plant (STZ), a bricklayer I.Ilushin and a unskilled laborer M.Shumilin defending their plant against the advancing Nazi Wehrmacht troops.
The militia in the foreground is armed with a Dygtereva tank machine gun (DT), which was mounted on T-34 tanks.
