Alexander Terentyevich Karpov is the squadron commander of the 123/27 Vyborg Guards Fighter Aviation Regiment of the 2 nd Leningrad Guards Fighter Corps of Red Army Air Defense, the most effective air defense pilot and the only one among them twice Hero of the Soviet Union. Karpov after completing 456 sorties, after conducting 97 air battles, Major Guard Karpov personally shot down 28 enemy planes and 8 in group battles.

October 20, 1944, Karpov was killed while performing a combat mission.
