The aircraft carrier “Hiryu” was launched November 16, 1937, entered service in July 1939. As part of the 1st Air Fleet of Vice-Admiral Nagumo, Hiryu carrier participated in the attack on Pearl Harbor. In the battle of Midway atoll on June 4, 1942, it got four 454-kg bombs from American dive bombers, the same number of bombs exploded in the water at the sides, the ship started fires, after 4 hours the water flooded the engine room, after which the crew was removed.In the morning of June 5, the aircraft carrier “Hiryu” was sunk by torpedoes from escort destroyers.
