The Finnish gunboat “Matti Kurki” is the former Russian minelayer “Voevoda”, captured by the Finns in April 1918 in Bjorneborg (Pori) and included in the Finnish navy.
According to the Tartu (Yuryev) peace treaty in 1922, the gunboat “Matti Kurki” was subject to return to the RSFSR, but as ultimately obsolete was sold to Finland as scrap metal. As a patrol ship, a gunboat and a minelayer continued to remain in the Finnish Navy until 1957, after which it was rebuilt into a floating restaurant and hotel, and in 1964 was sold for scrapping.
