Operation Jubilee

The landing Operation “Jubilee”, also known as the Battle of Dieppe, was conducted on August 19, 1942 with the aim of seizing the French port of Dieppe from the Germans. Allied troops, including about five thousand infantrymen from the 2nd Canadian Division, 1,000 English commandos and 37 tanks from the 14th Tank Regiment, were completely defeated by the Wehrmacht.
