The aircraft carrier Shokaku participated in the attack on Pearl Harbor and in the Battle of the Coral Sea on May 7-8, 1942, where it was damaged by American aircraft. Was renovated before August 1942.
In the battle of the islands of Santa Cruz on October 26, 1942, was damaged by aircraft from the aircraft carrier Hornet. Was in repair until March 19, 1943.
The aircraft carrier Shokaku was sunk by three torpedoes of the American submarine “Cavalla” on June 19, 1944, during the battle of the Mariana Islands.
