Soviet soldiers of the Red Army on August 6, 1938, in a battle against the Japanese armed forces on the Zaozernaya hill, hoisted the victorious red banner by the secretary of the party bureau of the 88th Achinsk Rifle Regiment of the 40th Rifle Division named after I. S. Ordzhonikidze by Lieutenant Ivan Nikonovich Moshlyak.

In the period from July 29 to August 11, 1938, in the area of ​​Lake Khasan on the Zaozernaya and Bezymyannaya hills (Primorsky Territory), a border conflict occurred between imperialist Japan and the Bolshevik USSR.
