Soviet soldiers pose with Karl Emil Wrobel (1882 – October 2, 1949), a German Major General of the Medical Service, who served as Chief Medical Officer of the Berlin Police. He was captured on May 2, 1945, during the final days of the Battle of Berlin.
In the background stands Lieutenant Alexey Prokofyevich Berest (1921–1970), Deputy Political Officer of the 756th Rifle Regiment, 150th Rifle Division. He was one of the men who raised the Victory Banner over the Reichstag. On the left is a soldier from his unit.
