On July 2, 1942, the Soviet destroyer, unexpectedly attacked by German bombers, was parked in Novorossiysk Bay. One 500-kilogram aerial bomb hit the area of ​​the first engine room. From its explosion detonated the warheads of two torpedoes, which were in the forward torpedo tube. The ship broke into two parts, an explosion occurred in the stern cellar. “Bditelniy” in a matter of minutes lay down on the ground.

Restoration of the combat ship was not subject, in 1948-1952 was raised in parts and scrapped.
