Soldiers of the Arab Legion, armed with English 7.7-mm rifles “Lee-Enfield”, marching against the background of the fortress Qasr al-Haran, 1940-1941.
The Arab legion is the name of the Jordanian army, created with the direct participation of the British colonial authorities. In the Second World War, the Arab Legion took part on the side of the Allies against the Axis countries. In particular, the units of the Arab Legion in 1941 suppressed the Arab anti-British uprising raised in Iraq by Arab nationalists and the anti-British uprising supported by Germany and the Vichy French administration of Syria.
