Russian pilot, Lieutenant Sergei Achkasov (1919 – March 14, 1943), who made two aerial rams on the Voronezh front, stands near a MiG-3 fighter plane of the Red Army Air Force.
By September 1942, the commander of the 176th Fighter Aviation Regiment (207th Fighter Aviation Division, 2nd Air Army, Voronezh Front), Lieutenant Sergei Achkasov, made 160 sorties, personally shot down 8 in 17 air battles (of which 2 were rammed ) and as part of the group – 2 enemy aircraft.
On February 4, 1943, for courage and courage shown in battles with enemies, he was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union. Sergei Vasilyevich Achkasov died on March 14, 1943 near Kursk city during a German Luftwaffe air raid on a Soviet military airfield.
