Captain of the Red Army Semyon Lykin (1912-1998) stands near his Il-4 long-range bomber during the Great Patriotic War of the Soviet Union.
Semyon Lykin during his service as part of the 4th Long-Range Bomber Aviation Regiment (4th Long-Range Aviation Regiment) in 1941-1942 on DB-3A and IL-4 aircraft made 39 sorties to bomb the enemy, of which 21 at night, for at the same time, courage and heroism was awarded two Orders of the Red Banner (in March and May 1942).
For health reasons, in 1943 Semyon Lykin was transferred to the 73rd Auxiliary Long-Range Aviation Division, where, as part of the 89th Transport Aviation Regiment, on the C-47 Douglas aircraft, he made 92 flights to transfer aircraft crews (1840 people) and 23 , 5 tons of defense cargo, for which on May 19, 1945 he was awarded the Order of the Red Star.
