Presentation of the banner to the Azul squadron of Spanish volunteers.
The Spanish volunteers of the Azul squadron was formed in July 1941 in Madrid as the Span.Jagdstaffel of the Luftwaffe. After the formation, Azul Squadron was in training and preparation for two months. In September 1941, sent to the Eastern Front and officially received the name 15.(Span.)/JG27.
Spanish volunteers, the pilots from the Azul squadron fought on the Messerschmitt Bf.109 E-7 fighters as part of the VIIIth Luftwaffe air corps. In March 1942 she was replaced by Squadron 15.(span.)/JG.51. also on Messerschmitt Bf.109 E-7, which the Spanish volunteers used until October 1942, and then received Messerschmitt Bf.109 F.
Squadron 15.(Span.)/JG27 returned to Madrid in March 1942, where it was disbanded and the pilots transferred to various operating units.
