After the end of World War II, several units of the former Leningrad Front of the Red Army were in the Baltic States. On the morning of July 8 (Sunday) 1945, soldiers solemnly returned to Leningrad: from the Narva Gate, the 45th Infantry Division, the Moscow Gate, the 63rd Infantry Division, and the 64th Infantry Division from the Volodarsky Bridge.
The population of Leningrad joyfully greeted the victorious warriors with bread and salt, gifts, flowers.
