Photo of the Russian city of Uritsk

Photo of the Russian city of Uritsk in the Leningrad region, taken from a German observation balloon.
The photo clearly shows the devastated front-line city of Uritsk (currently part of the Krasnoselsky district of St. Petersburg), the broken Ligovo railway station, the blown up bridge across the Dudergofka river.
Wooden houses in the city of Uritsk were burned down or dismantled. Only a few brick houses remained. In the foreground, there is a fork in the railway lines, a crossing over the railway is visible (at present, instead of a crossing, a railway bridge has been built, from which the Krasnoselskoye highway starts). Shell and mine craters are visible everywhere. Under the German inscription “Urizk” there is the building of the uritsk school, in which a German fortified observation post was set up, later blown up after Operation Underdark.
Ligovsky pond was drained after the start of the war and a little water up to the dam. To the west of them is a system of ponds at different levels.
