American battleship Washington (BB-56) in Scapa Flow in Scotland on April 4, 1942. The photo was taken from the flight deck of the USS Wasp (CV-7) aircraft carrier during an operation to deliver aircraft from the British Isles to Malta.
On the right is the fighter Grumman F4F Wildcat.
Balloons of anti-air defense hang over the bay.

Washington battleship on November 15, 1942, will destroy the Japanese cruiser “Kirishima”.
“Wasp” aircraft carrier on September 15, 1942 will be flooded by the destroyer of the guarding “Lansdowne” after hitting three torpedoes from the Japanese submarine I-19.
