Pervitin and the Germans

 

Pervitin and the Germans: Testing stimulants on a group of Nazi Germany medical school cadets before the outbreak of World War II in Europe.
Testing took place on the night of May 2-3, 1939, photograph number 11. Caption below: “5 hours 20 minutes. Sleep and indifference of those who took placebo.”

Designations of the drugs that test participants received: S – placebo, B – Benzedrin, C – caffeine, P – Pervitin.
