Pogoreloe Gorodische is an ancient Russian city in the Kalininskaya (now Tver) region, based on the site of a 13th-century fortress. The city fell into the German occupation in October 1941 and was liberated by Soviet troops on August 4, 1942, during the Pogorelo-Gorodische offensive operation, which was part of the Rzhev-Sychevsky operation of World War 2.
