3rd SS-Panzer-Division is a combination of SS troops. Formed in the period from October 16 to November 1, 1939 in the training camp of the SS in Dachau city as a division of motorized infantry on territory of the Third Reich. The basis was formed by the ranks of the SS “Totenkopf”, as well as the officers of the SS-reinforcement units. The first commander of the SS division  was the founder of the concentration camp inspector Theodor Eike.
