Messerschmitt Bf-109F-2 Trop of Albert Espenlaub after emergency landing

 

Messerschmitt Bf-109F-2 Trop (W.Nr. 8477) of Oberfeldwebel Albert Espenlaub the German pilot from the 1 Squadron 27 Fighter Regiment of the Nazi Luftwaffe (Oberfeldwebel Albert Espenlaub of 1. Staffel JG27).

Photo is dated December 13, 1941, El Adem, North Africa. On this day in a dogfight Messerschmitt Bf-109F-2 Trop of Albert Espenlaub received damage the engine cooling system and the pilot made an emergency landing on the territory of the Allies. Landing was successful and the pilot is not injured, but was captured. Albert Espenlaub Died February 25, 1942 while trying to escape from a POW camp.
On account of Albert Espenlaub had 14 aerial victories.
On board of the this Messerschmitt Bf-109 clearly visible smudges of engine oil.
