German Messerschmitt Bf 109 E fighter aircraft from the Nazi Luftwaffe of the Third reich located on the airfield.
Messerschmitt Bf.109 E (Emil) – the first truly mass modification of the Me-109. The fighter was equipped with a new, proved to be more reliable, the engine Daimler Benz 601 with direct fuel injection system and the hydraulic clutch to drive the supercharger. The first Messerschmitt Bf.109E new modification came into force in early 1939. Basically Bf109 E armed with two 7.9-mm machine guns mounted in the housing, and two 20 mm cannons MG FF, located in the wings. Since E7 series (1939) appeared on the front Bf.109 transparent cockpit armor 58 mm thick, mounted at an angle of 30 degrees (from vertical), and the tank located behind the 6-mm steel armored plate, overlapping all the cross-section of the fuselage.
Messerschmitt Bf.109E produced until the autumn of 1941, when it was replaced by the following modification – Bf.109F.
