The Martin B-26C-45-MA Marauder bomber, serial number 42-107566, owned by the 441st bombing squadron of the 320th bombing group of the 12th US Army, was shot down during an attack on a railway bridge in the vicinity of Marzabotto in the Battle of Italy.
Martin B-26 Marauder got a direct hit in the left wing and broke into a tailspin. The crew died. It was their second flight on a combat mission that day.
