Major Georgy Gubkin, commander of the 297th regiment of the 184th Dukhovshchino Rifle Division of the Red Army Infantry (April 10, 1919– July 10, 2003) in Moscow after being awarded the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal.
On September 17, 1944, in the area of the town of Kudirkos-Naumiestis, Lithuanian SSR, the regiment of Captain Georgy Gubkin was the first to enter the state border of the USSR. For this success, he was nominated for the title of Hero of the Soviet Union.
