Japanese A6M3 “Zero” fighters of Model 22 from the 251st regiment in flight over the Solomon Islands.

The A6M3 aircraft on the foreground is piloted by Hiroyoshi Nishizawa (1920-1944), the famous Japanese air ace (87 victories officially, according to various sources up to 200 victories). The A6M3 Zero aircraft is covered with dark green camouflage.
