The Ishak children’s home (Soviet children’s shelter) was opened in the Cheboksary district of Chuvashia in August 1943. Then more than 100 children from three orphanages were evacuated from besieged Leningrad: children’s home No. 73 of the Nevsky district, No. 9 and No. 43 of the Vyborg district.
