Soviet fighter MiG-9

Inspection of the engine of the Soviet MiG-9 (I-210) fighter aircraft from the Air Force of the Red Army in frontline conditions during the Second World War.
The MiG-9 is a modification of the MiG-3 fighter with the M-82A engine. The MiG-9 fighter did not go into mass production, as it received an unsatisfactory rating based on the test results in 1942-1943. Its basic flight characteristics turned out to be worse than those of the La-5 and Yak-7 aircraft. However, on June 27, 1943, three fighters of the military series No. 6501, No. 6502 and No. 6503, after revision, were transferred to the 260th mixed air division of the 7th Air Army of the Karelian Front, where they were operated until they were decommissioned in 1944.
