Herta Wist, German nurses

 

Herta Wist and German nurses from the Wehrmacht military hospital of the Nazi Forces captured by the Americans in the Battle of Cherbourg, France.
Allied command decided to transfer these women to the Germans. During the exchange, an agreement was reached on a ceasefire, and with the participation of Captain Quentin Roosevelt from the 1st US Infantry Division, the return of nurses to the German side was organized in the Balleroy area. This incident was covered by the press and served as propaganda for the good treatment of German prisoners of war.
In a white jacket is nurse Wist. The names of the remaining nurses are not known.
