Hero of the Soviet Union, Major-General Alexander Gladkov with his wife after the Victory Day parade in Moscow. The original name is “Joy and Pain of Victory”.
Gladkov Alexander Vasilievich was born in 1902, in the Red Army since 1918. Participant of the Civil War in Soviet Russia. In 1929, he took part in the battles on the Sino-Eastern Railway. He was a participant of the Great Patriotic War from the first day in the post of commander of a rifle regiment on the Western Front. For the successful leadership of the military unit and the courage shown at the same time, Major-General Gladkov was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal (N 7116). At the end of the military operations, the general was seriously wounded, his leg amputated.
