Major General Vasily S. Molokov

 

Hero of the Soviet Union, Air Force Major General Vasily S. Molokov (1895-1982).

From 1932 Vasily Molokov commanded the Polar Aviation detachment of the Main Directorate of the Northern Sea Route. In the operation of the rescue of the Chelyuskinites, he made 9 flights and took 39 people out of the camp.
For courage and bravery shown in saving the Chelyuskites, Vasiliy Sergeyevich Molokov was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union on April 20, 1934 with the award of the Order of Lenin.
In 1937, he served as commander of the crew of the TB-3 aircraft in the landing of Papanins on the North Pole.

From May 1943 – Vasily Molokov, Commander of the 213rd Air Division of night bombers (Western and 3rd Belorussian Fronts of the Red Army).
