The Grumman F6F Hellcat fighter aircraft crashes on the deck of the Barnes escort aircraft carrier (USS Barnes (CVE-20) after a pilot error, Ensign Olinyock.
In addition to the Grumman F6F Hellcat pilot, the number of casualties included the Olin Victor Bulgrin class 1 firefighter, as well as several crew members of the USS Barnes (CVE-20).
