The 51st mine torpedo air regiment was formed in June 1944 and became part of the 8th mine torpedo air division of the Red Banner Baltic Fleet of the USSR. The regiment was armed with American-made A-20G Boston aircraft. During the period of hostilities, the pilots of the regiment destroyed 117 warships and transport ships of the enemy.
