German transport aircraft Heinkel He 111Z-1 Zwilling (“Twins”) of the Nazi Luftwaffe on the Western Front during the Second World War. It was used to tow the Me.321 and Go.242 gliders.
A total of 12 of He 111Z-1 Zwilling aircraft were produced. The picture was taken at the French airfield Tavaux, presumably in the spring of 1943, after the return of the aircraft from the Eastern Front, where they took part in the organization of the “Kuban bridge” as part of the 1st Luftwaffe air fleet.
