German propaganda poster addressed to the Finnish soldiers during the Lapland War. The ironic inscription on the poster is: “Als dank bewiesene für nicht Waffenbrüderschaft!” (“Thank you for the proven absence of military partnership!”).
The “Lapland War” (September 1944 – April 1945) began after the signing of the armistice agreement between Finland and the USSR 09/19/1944. According to this treaty, Finland was obliged to remove the German troops remaining on its territory and transfer them into the hands of the Anti-Hitler coalition. In pursuance of the treaty, Finland began military operations against the German troops stationed in Lapland.
