The German paratroopers of airborne force of the Wehrmacht (German Fallschirmjäger, Fallschirm – “parachute” and Jäger – “hunter, huntsman”) – the German airborne forces of the Wehrmacht operational-tactical deployment in the enemy’s rear, were an elite army, among the volunteers in them recruited only the best of the best soldiers in Germany. The formation of parts began in 1936, after which, during the Second World War, from 1940 to 1941, they were used in large airborne operations in Norway, Belgium, the Netherlands and Greece.
