German grenadiers of the Nazi Wehrmacht are moving towards the last Soviet defensive positions in the area of the railway station of the city of Goldap.
The Soviet troops, who occupied the city during the Gumbinnen-Goldap operation, could not hold it and retreated from the city under the pressure of the Wehrmacht.
The German grenadiers photo was taken from the StuG III assault gun.
