Scharnhorst is German battleship (sometimes referred to as a battle cruiser, due to the caliber of guns) of the German Navy in World War II. Named after the general and reformer of the Prussian army Gerhard von Scharnhorst and in memory of the cruiser of the First World War “Scharnhorst“.

The German battleship “Scharnhorst” was sunk by the forces of the British fleet on December 26, 1943 at the North Cape in Norway.
