German two-float single-engine Arado Ar 196 a-2 aircraft from the 2nd Squadron of the 125th group of sea scouts (Seeaufklarungsgruppe 125 – SAGr.125) landed in the waters of sealion harbor in Crete Island.
Arado Ar 196 a-2 aircraft was designed for use in coastal defense squadrons of the Luftwaffe. The main objective of this modification was to fight the enemy ships and planes, so its armament comprised two 20-mm automatic cannon MGFF, and an additional 7.9-mm MG 17 machine guns in the nose of the fuselage. First of Arado 196 A-2 began to enter into the existing aviation units in the early 1940s.
