On July 22, 1942, during the battle of El Alamein, the artillery squad of Gefreiter Gunter Halm of the 104th Wehrmacht Grenadier Regiment destroyed nine Valentine tanks from the British 23rd Armored Brigade with shots from the PaK-36 (r) anti-tank gun within a few minutes.
