Carmen Roman Lazarevich became famous for documentary films about the Second World War. He filmed on the fronts of the civil war in Spain (1936-1939) and the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945). The most historically significant of Roman Carmen films were the capitulation of Field Marshal Friedrich von Paulus in Stalingrad and the signing of an act of unconditional surrender of Germany in Berlin.
